Pests

Each pest comes with its own unique challenges and requires specific solutions. We offer services to deal with these pests, and more.

Any of these pest problems look familiar?

Ants

If you see one ant, chances are, there are more nearby. Some ants, like carpenter ants, can take a serious toll on the structure of your home or business. Simply exterminating the ants won’t solve the problem — the key is to locate their entry point and treat the entire colony. Charles Pest Control has a long track record of treating ant infestations.

Fleas

Fleas are tiny insects that are usually brought into a home or building by house pets, domestic animals, or even wildlife. Pets tend to acquire fleas outside, leading to an infestation inside. Fleas typically feed and lay their eggs near where pets sleep, eat, and enter your home or business. While fleas prefer house pets, they bite humans as well, causing incredible itchiness and sometimes sore, painful areas on the skin. They can trigger allergic reactions and hives, and, sometimes, worsen respiratory illnesses.

Mice

While there are many at-home extermination techniques for mice, from traps to baits, these pests are best left to the professionals. Traps may be dangerous for humans and pets if not used properly. Baits can often also harm people, pets, and wildlife as well if they’re not placed properly. Mice are not only a nuisance but can be dangerous to humans because of their nesting and feeding habits. Their waste can contain viruses and bacteria. They eat human food, they shred paper to make nests, and they chew on electrical wires and cause fires. It’s best to take action as soon as you suspect the presence of mice, as their populations grow quickly and are difficult to control.

Pigeons

Pigeons aren’t just pests — more than 50 diseases and ectoparasites are associated with the bird. Pigeon nests and droppings may also lead to other pests and issues, such as beetles, flies, and moths. They leave corrosive droppings and can cause fires from building their nests in vents and pipes. Pigeons tend to be a year-round problem that requires highly specialized treatment.

Rats

Just like mice, rats can reproduce and grow their population quickly. Rats are known to bite, spread diseases, contaminate your food, and can cause considerable damage to your property. Rat behavior, and therefore treatment, varies based on the number of rats and their locations. Charles Pest Control’s expert technicians can locate the source of the rat infestation in your home, office, or business, and tailor the treatment accordingly.

Roaches

Cockroaches carry harmful bacteria, spread diseases, and cause allergic reactions. Some species emit a strong odor that smells oily or musty. Roaches typically inhabit hidden, dark places and reproduce quickly. Because of their resiliency, roaches are nearly impossible to exterminate using home techniques. Quick removal is a necessity and is best handled by the professionals at Charles Pest Control.

Silverfish

While silverfish aren’t severely dangerous to your health or the structural integrity of your property, they may feed on your food and belongings. Silverfish tend to chew large holes in fabric, clothing, and paper materials. They may also trigger allergic conditions in some people.

Spiders

While many spiders are considered beneficial since they eat other insects, there are certain species that are dangerous to have in your home or business. Black Widows and Brown Recluses can be extremely poisonous and must be dealt with quickly and safely.

Black Widow spiders are often found in dark, secluded areas filled with clutter, like garages and other storage areas. Their bites are incredibly painful and toxic, leaving the area around the bite swollen and red. A bite from a Black Widow often requires immediate medical attention.

Brown Recluse spiders can be found in garages, attics, storage areas, and even your living room. Brown Recluse spider bites aren’t easily detected at first. They typically start as a small red blister before developing into a larger open sore that comes with itching, irritation, burning, or pain around the area of the bite. Bites may also cause fever and nausea, often requiring medical attention.

Termites

Termites can threaten the safety and structure of your property. Termites are often the most active in the spring, as the weather begins to warm. In Oklahoma, this is when termites “swarm,” looking to begin new colonies, oftentimes in buildings and homes. Charles Pest Control has special expertise in dealing with termites. From inspection to extermination, we take termites seriously.
